How Locstat Uses Your Data

Some essential data must be transferred between us and your device in order for Locstat to function properly. This data will never be sold or used for marketing purposes. The app also stores data on your device that you input while using it. Here’s a breakdown of how Locstat uses your data:

Data from Our Servers

Locstat works by downloading data from our servers and also serves as an intermediary between different user devices that are connected to the Locstat network. This data includes location, telemetric and other geospatial data that is available and requested from different users and any updates to the app itself. This ensures you have the most recent information. Locstat does not send any personal information about you or your device when downloading this data.

Similar to most internet downloads, our servers have access to your device’s IP address when Locstat downloads data. This IP address is not used to identify or track individual users but to maintain the security of the app and our servers. More information on our data practices can be found in our Privacy Policy.

You can restrict all data requests to our servers by enabling “dark mode” in the app. However, this will significantly limit Locstat’s functionality.

Your Personal Choices and Data

Locstat allows you to enter and save your personal preferences and data. For instance, you can create saved locations, add notes to specific locations, and set preferred map views. Some of this data is stored solely on your device and some is stored encrypted on the server for sync later in case you lose your device, reinstall the app or transfer devices.

The app also stores some settings and configurations based on your actions. For example, it remembers your recent location searches, map customizations, and any saved data. This allows Locstat to provide a personalized experience.

Optional Diagnostic and Usage Data

Locstat offers you the option to share certain anonymous diagnostic and usage data with us. This data helps us improve the app’s performance and identify any potential issues. We do not sell this data or use it for marketing purposes. You can control whether the app shares this data through the app’s Settings menu.

If you choose to share diagnostic and usage data, it will include a unique identifier for your installation. This identifier is not linked to you and cannot be traced back to a specific individual. You can reset this identifier at any time by uninstalling and reinstalling Locstat.
